TEAKPROTEK is an odorless, inorganic polymer that has very high degree of water and liquid repellance combined with outstanding mold, mildew and UV resistance. It uses an odorless, HAP free white spirits carrier that helps the protective uid penetrate deep into the ber of the wood. TeakProtek is a clear coating that is very eective for the protection of teak wood decking. Teak decks protected with TeakProtek will retain their protection for several years, protecting the teak from oxidizing, staining and general structural deterioration.

Some of the more popular teak coatings are topical with short term protection. They contain short term biocides with modest UV protection and thus call for repeat applications. Others are dilutions of linseed or tung oil in mineral spirits and with repeat applications they can build up a sticky layer that will darken the wood and compromise its natural luster. Polymer based coatings formulated from acrylics, urethanes, etc., have poor air and moisture exchange and can promote dry rot in the wood by sealing the moisture in. They can crack and peel and are dicult to remove when refurbishing the surface. TEAKPROTEK is unique in its approach to wood protection and oers incomparable durability.

TEAKPROTEK can be used on solid woods, veneers and all natural woods such as maple, oak, pine, walnut, rosewood, etc. The application of TEAKPROTEK will brighten the natural color of the wood without obscuring the wood grain and natural appearance. TEAKPROTEK application will provide a satin to matte nish surface that is not slippery and has a very strong water beading eect after the coating has fully cured. Overtime, after 18 to 24 months, if necessary a re-nish single coat may be applied. There is no need to remove the previous coating or do any extensive prep work. Simply make sure that the surface to be treated is clean and free of dirt and soil.

COVERAGE: Coverage ranges from 250 sq. ft per gallon to 400 sq. ft. per gallon depending on wood type and its density. A minimum two coat application is recommended for durable protection.

APPLICATION: TEAKPROTEK may be applied by brush, roller (short nap) or low pressure airless spray device . Prior to application make sure that the surface is washed with mild soap or detergent and water and is allowed to fully dry. The rst coat will sink deep into the bers of the wood, sealing the wood against water and moisture penetration. The second coat will provide a pronounced beading eect along with protection against staining, oxidizing and general wear and tear. TEAKPROTEK goes on very easily and dries to a clear satin to matts nish.

TEAKPROTEK dries qickly and at 77°F and 50% RH (relative humidity) should be dry to the touch in about 15 minutes or less. The time required to dry may vary based on exact prevailing conditions. Although the full curing of the coating will take place over 72 hours, the coated surface maybe put to light use once the coating is fully dry to the touch. Do not expose the surface to heavy trac or abrasion prior to full cure. Do not apply at temperatures below 50°F or above 90°F.

Clean spills and spatters, tools, with denatured alcohol. Similarly if application was conducted via spraying, ush spray equipment with denatured alcohol to prevent clogging and malfuntion. Keep work areas well ventilated and use all generally advocated cautions when working solvent based paints.
